Kitty O’Neil was an American stuntwoman and racer who set several speed records during her lifetime. She was born on 24 March 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and passed away on 2 November 2018.

One of her most notable achievements was setting the women’s land speed record in 1976 when she drove a rocket-powered vehicle called the “Smirnoff Jet Car” at an average speed of 512.71 miles per hour (825.12 km/h) on the Alvord Desert in Oregon. 

This record still stands as the fastest land speed record for a woman to this day.
